2020 Tribute to my Parents “At Home” Essay

As many of you know, I always invite dancers at each event to write about their parents for our Tribute to my Parents Award. Since we are unable to host any remaining events due to large gathering restrictions, I invited ALL competitive dancers to submit an essay for the “At Home Version” of the Tribute to my Parents Award.  This has truly been a blessing to read all of the essays that were written by so many dancers. We have now made our decision and would like to say Congratulations to the winner, McKenna Donohue.  McKenna is a 14 year old dancer at Summit Dance Works in Colorado Springs, Colorado and the daughter of Sean and Lisa Donohue.  Thank you McKenna for writing such a beautiful essay about your family and for sharing your feelings of love, gratitude and appreciation that you have in your heart.  Left is a photo of the Donohue family with McKenna in the center.  To read the essay that McKenna wrote about her family just click on the picture.

As a token of our appreciation, we will be sending the Donohue family a $500 check as well as a special award to display in their home to remember this moment. To all of the dancers who sent in an essay, we can’t thank you enough for sharing positive and loving stories at a time of uncertainty when we need to focus on all of the blessings in our lives.
